The National Bureau of Investigation arrested in Sultan Kudarat a man who was wanted for the gruesome killing 19 years ago of a lady supervisor in Quezon City.
NBI agents pounced on Rommel Rapsing, 38, from Quezon City, while he was throwing his bet inside a makeshift cockpit in Salyao village in Esperanza town last Wednesday.
NBI-Central Mindanao regional director Angelito Magno, who led the operation, said the suspect is facing charges for the gruesome killing of 45-year Maritess Marcelino, a warehouse supervisor who was found dead with several stab wounds on her body in 1993.
Rapsing was the only accused who was still "at-large suspect as the other suspects who were his co-workers at Fabrick Warehouse at SM Quezon City, had already been arrested.
Magno said Rapsing fled to Mindanao after the Regional Trial Court of Caloocan City issued the warrant for his arrest for robbery with homicide.
He went into hiding in Awang, Cotabato City where his uncle, a retired military man was assigned. His uncle then brought him to Esperanza town in Sultan Kudarat province where he got married and lived there for nearly 20 years.

Magno said nobody in the community knew that the suspect was a fugitive until he himself bragged about his involvement in a crime in Luzon to his drinking buddies.
"Nagyayabang daw kasi itong suspect sa inuman nila na wanted siya sa kasong robbery sa Quezon City," Magno said.
Magno said his office conducted a background check on the suspect and it was confirmed that he was charged with robbery and homicide in Quezon City.
"Rapsing was caught by surprised when he was served with an arrest warrant inside the crowded cockpit," said Esperanza police chief Eisbonn Llamansares, who assisted the NBI agents during the operation.
