Sarangani Province IATF discuss new guideline on GCQ
ALABEL, Sarangani – Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon and Vice Governor Elmer de Peralta discuss with the seven town mayors on April 27 the conventions on the province’s guidelines on the transition from Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to General Community Quarantine (GCQ). To conform with the measures against the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the ECQ took effect in Sarangani on March 28 under provincial Executive Order No. 10. According to the new guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), GCQ is basically less severe than the ECQ. Under the GCQ effective May 1, movement of people shall be limited to accessing basic necessities while work and uniformed personnel and quarantine officers shall be present at the border checkpoints. Also, workers will be allowed to go out and work in phases and essential construction projects will resume subjected to minimum health standards, physical distancing, and barracks for workers. The curfew will still be enforced for non-workers. Public transportation will also be allowed but at reduced capacity. Ports will also be opened only for the movement of goods. The general population may go out to acquire basic necessities and services. However, children and young people under 20, the elderly (60 years old and above), and people with high-risk health issues are not allowed to go out of their homes. Those who will head out must always bring an ID to prove that they are aged between 21 to 59. There will also be mandatory temperature check, observance of physical distancing (2 meters), wearing of masks and alcohol use while higher education institutions will continue their classes to finish the academic year.
