In his Eidul Fitr message, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) interim Chief Minister Ahod “Alhaj Murad” Ebrahim stressed that “patience and trust to God” are key to surpass the crisis brought about by the Corona virus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

“The good attitude (of Muslims) brought by the blessed Ramadhan, (and) through patience and trust to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta ala), we will be able to surpass this crisis,” Ebrahim said on Sunday in a video recorded message.

He said the Bangsamoro regional government joined the Muslim Ummah in celebrating Eidul Fitr after a month-long Ramadhan period.

“With our sincere faith, Muslims around the world welcomed the month of Ramadhan amidst the Covid-19 pandemic that we experience now,” Ebrahim said

The BARMM chief stressed that Muslim faithful should be resilient and strong to withstand the trials of the Almighty during this crisis.

He noted the difficulty experienced by Bangsamoro residents caused by the  pandemic which restrained them from their usual tasks such as praying Taraweeh and serving Iftar (food taken to break the fast) during the Ramadhan.

“Alhamdulillah, we were able to surpass all these difficulties during  the month of fasting,” Ebrahim stressed.

He said the Bangsamoro government, thru its Inter-Agency Task Force, earlier assured that the observance of Ramadhan will remain unperturbed amid the pandemic.

“We were able to deliver relief goods and monetary assistance to the entire region with the help of government agencies to assure that every family is able to receive basic needs while our health facilities are being built,” Ebrahim said.

“We need to unite and help one another towards building a stronger Bangsamoro Region anchored on moral governance.”

The BARMM Regional Darul Ifta, the religious authority of the Bangsamoro Government, had issued advisories prohibiting congregational prayers in mosques during the pandemic.

It also advised that in order to avoid the spread of the corona virus, Muslims should perform Eidul Fitr prayer at their homes rather than in huge community congregations in open areas which they usually do.
