DENR to conduct public consultations on the proposed KALEPA Seascape and Landscape


The Department of Environment and Natural Resources is set to conduct public hearings on the creation of proposed KALEPA (Kalamansig-Lebak-Palimbang) Landscape and Seascape covering 76,721.61 hectares located in the municipalities of Kalamansig, Lebak and Palimbang in Sultan Kudarat to be included in the Expanded national Integrated Protected Areas System (ENIPAS) otherwise known as R.A. No. 11038.

The Community Environment Natural Resources Office-Kalamansig has scheduled a series of public hearings relative to the proposed KALEPA Landscape and Seascape on the the following dates; June 10, 2021 at Lebak gym, Poblacion Lebak, Sultan Kudarat; June 15, 2021 at Palimbang conference hall, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat and June 17, 2021 at Kalamansig gym, Poblacion Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.

All interested parties and community stakeholders are enjoined to attend the scheduled public consultations.

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

Be it known that the Kalamansig Lebak and Palimbang (KALEPA) proposed Protected Landscape and Seascape, an area covering 76,721.61 hectares, located within the Municipalities of Kalamanseg, Lebak and Palimbang all in the Province of Sultan Kudarat have undergone a Protected Area Suitability Assistment (PASA) with a rating of 86% under the category of protected landscape and seascape for the inclusion in the system pursuant to Section 5(c) of R.A. No. 11038 or the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System (ENIPAS) Act of 2018 and its implementing Rules and Regulation of the DENR Administrative Order No.  2019-05 now, on the basis of PASA results, the DENR-CENRO Kalamansig thru the DENR Secretary recommending to the President of the Republic of the Philippines for the issuance of proclamation as KALEPA Protected Landscape and Seascape by virtue of R.A. 11038 otherwise known as Expanded National Integrated Protected Area System (ENIPAS) Act of 2018, and to be set aside as areas of national significance which are characterized by the harmonious interaction of man, land and water while providing opportunities for public enjoyment through recreation and tourism within the normal lifestyle and economic activities of the area and in order to secure the perpetual existence of the biological diversity for the Filipino people of present and future generation.
