Soccsksargen records highest single-day 689 Covid-19 recoveries


COTABATO CITY – The Department of Health (DOH) 12 (Soccsksargen) reported 689 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Monday night, regarded as the highest single-day recovery recorded so far in the region.

Arjohn Gangoso, DOH-12 health education and promotion officer, said of the new recoveries, South Cotabato topped the list with 279; General Santos City, 181; Sultan Kudarat, 127; and North Cotabato, 102.

“We just did what we have to in attending to the treatment of the patients who are all cooperating to get well soon,” said Gangoso, also the DOH-12 acting spokesperson.

On September 20, a total of 472 patients also recovered from the virus, the second-highest single-day recovery from Covid-19 in the region.

The current Covid-19 recovery rate in the region is at 85.2 percent with a cumulative total of 42,257 recoveries from 49,575 confirmed cases since the pandemic was declared in March last year.

Meanwhile, the region also logged 344 new cases on the same day, according to Gangoso.

Of the new cases, General Santos City logged the highest with 120; South Cotabato, 106; North Cotabato, 95; and Sultan Kudarat, 23.

“We are continually reminding the people to have themselves vaccinated and refrain from going out of their houses for unnecessary travels as the virus is still much around,” he said.

Active cases are at 5,705 with South Cotabato having the most number at 2,212; North Cotabato, 1,363; General Santos City, 947; Sarangani, 909; and Sultan Kudarat, 274.

Also on Monday, 11 news deaths were reported – North Cotabato, 6; South Cotabato, 4; and General Santos City, 1 – bringing the cumulative death toll to 1,605. (PNA)
