The Department of the Interior and Local Government here has launched a series of orientation workshop for newly elected barangay officials purposely to enhance their knowledge on barangay administration.
Sarangani DILG provincial director Flor Limpin Jr. said the orientation focused on Barangay Governance and Administration to enable barangay officials know the basic information about barangay government which aims at strengthening the Barangay-Based Institutions (BBIs).
He said the seminar will equip barangay officials from the seven municipalities of Sarangani Province of the needed knowledge regarding the processes and functions of BBIs.
President Benigno Aquino Jr. has ordered the DILG to intensify its educational campaign among barangay officials on barangay governance.
"The training was designed to enhance the capability of barangay officials in various areas of governance being the frontliners in barangay development programs of the government," Limpin said.
He added that the series of trainings began early this month until it will cover the seven municipalities of the province.
