Mangudadatus face off in Maguindanao gubernatorial race

Gubernatorial bet Bai Mariam Mangudadatu, incumbent mayor of Datu Abdullah Sangki, Maguindanao filed her certificate of candidacy for governor of Maguindanao under Nationalist Party together with her running mates Datu Anggal Vice-Mayor Nathaniel Midtimbang for congressman Maguindanao- 2nd district and former Cotabato City Mayor Muslimen Sema for congressman 1st district-Maguindanao. COTABATO CITY- Two members of the Mangudadatu political clan will face off in the hotly-contested two-cornered gubernatorial race in Maguindanao in next year’s midterm elections.
Bai Mariam Mangudadatu, Datu Abdullah Sangki town mayor is running against Mangudadatu town mayor Freddie Mangudadatu, brother of last termer incumbent governor Esmael ‘Toto’ Mangudadatu.
Mariam Mangudadatu, wife of Sultan Kudarat congressman Suharto ‘Teng’ Mangudadatu ho is now running for governor, said she decided to run for governor to push for the realization of the peace and development initiatives of the Duterte administration in Maguindanao province.
She said peace and unity is the key towards achieving sustainable development in Maguindanao which is now hounded by the presence of ISIS-inspired Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters terror group.
Government forces and BIFF members figured in intermittent skirmishes the past months in several areas of the province where the oil-rich Liguasan Marsh is located.
Mariam Mangudadatu boasted her accomplishments on effective local governance as Datu Abdullah Sangki town mayor for two terms in which the local government was awarded the Seal of Good Local Governance by the Department of Interior and Local Government in 2017 and 2018.
She said she will give priority on turning Maguindanao into a place where the local people can take pride of the province as a haven for development.
On the Other hand, Freddie Mangudadatu vowed to continue the peace and development initiatives undertaken by his brother, undefeated Gov. Toto Mangudadatu
