2 arrested, P3.4-M ‘shabu’ seized in Maguindanao


SULTAN MASTURA, Maguindanao – Anti-narcotics agents and soldiers here Friday arrested two suspected drug peddlers, one of whom is a village councilman, and seized suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP3.4 million.

Director Gilbert V. Buenafe of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), said anti-narcotics operatives headed by PDEA-Maguindanao chief Anthony Naïve, arrested Alinor Taurac 40, and Ibra Farhan, 43, incumbent village councilman of Barangay Guinaopan, Tamparan, Lanao del Sur.

The suspects handed over 500 grams of shabu to an undercover agent along the national highway in Barangay Tambo, Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao at past 4 p.m. Friday when arrested.

“The suspects sensed they were dealing with an undercover operative and tried to escape but failed,” Naïve said.

The two are detained at the PDEA-BARMM headquarters in PC Hill, Cotabato City while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against them. (PNA)
