DSWD-12 launches campaign to delist ineligible 4Ps beneficiaries

GENERAL SANTOS CITY- The regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development has launched the campaign to delist ineligible beneficiaries from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program after a village councilor from South Cotabato was ordered suspended for misrepresenting himself as beneficiary of the government’s  social amelioration program.

DSWD regional director Restituto Macuto said the agency has intensified the monitoring of the 4Ps beneficiaries who continue to receive the P500 monthly social amelioration assistance despite their disqualification as 4Ps beneficiaries.

Macuto cited the case of Dexter Donasco, a barangay councilor of Barangay San Vicente, Banga, South Cotabato who was included in the list of 4Ps beneficiary since 2013 but was delisted only in 2020.

Donasco was recommended for two months suspension  by the Sangguniang Bayan for committing gross dishonesty after he deliberately  misrepresented himself as an indigent to become eligible beneficiary of the social amelioration assistance.

Village chair Elpidio Patarata had earlier filed a formal complaint against Donasco before the municipal legislative council for gross violation of the provisions of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

Banga Mayor Alberto Palencia ordered the suspension of Donasco for two months effective June 29, 2022 after the local legislative council recommended the latter’s administrative sanction for committing gross dishonesty.

Macuto said the DSWD regional office had already delisted more than 1,000 ineligible beneficiaries from the total of some 215,000 beneficiaries of the 4Ps in Region 12 which consists the provinces of South Cotabato, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos Cty.

Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo had earlier vowed to cleanse the anomalous list of 4Ps beneficiaries.
