Drug ring members to avenge arrest of drug trafficker

Suspected members of a drug syndicate have reportedly warned against policemen who had earlier arrested a big time drug trafficker from Lanao del Sur.

Irate syndicate members and accomplices of drug trader Fai Mamaroba, a resident of Barangay Picotaan, Lumbatan, Lanao del Sur warned through text massage that they will go after the policemen and personnel of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, together with their families, who took part in the anti-drug operation that resulted to the seizure of shabu worth P700 thousand and arrest of Mamaroba.

The text messages sent to one of the arresting officers said that the irate syndicate members threatened to rape and slay the wives and family members of police and PDEA-12 personnel who took part in the Sunday dawn drug entrapment operation.

"Magandang gabi sa iyo kapatid atlarge kita sampu ng misis mu na muslim. Kinumtra mu kami p…ng'na papatayin namin kayo. Uunahin namin mga misis nyong maganda pagkatapos namin reypin hahaha. P….g'na kayong mga pulis, masakit mawalan ng asawa at maramdaman nyo rin yan mga hayop kayo … wala kayong laban, di nyo kamim kilala ," said the txt message.

City police director Cedrick Train said the PNP was mandated to enforce the law, prevent and control crimes and ensure public safety at all times and no amount of threat and danger that could ever prevent the police from protecting the people against the harmful effects of drugs.

Joint elements from the city police office, PACER team, and PDEA led by Chief Insp. Joel Fomokao conducted the raid on the suspect's hideout following intelligence reports on drug syndicate's the illegal activities in the area.

PO3 Jonas Badilla said operatives disguised as Malaysian nationals who acted as poseur buyer during the entrapment operation.

"We are still conducting a deeper probe if the text messages really came from Mamoraba's accomplices, or either from the relatives of apprehended drug pushers earlier arrested who were out to get even at the apprehending authorities," Badilla said.

The operatives first conducted a test buy from Mamaroba who agreed to deliver large amount of shabu during the following drug deal.

"After the first deal, Mamaroba agreed to deliver 75 grams of shabu to be picked up at his pad in Gensanville Subdivision," Badilla said.

The Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) estimated the seized drugs at P750, 000 in street value.

Badilla described the arrest of Mamaroba and the seized illegal drugs as the biggest haul this year.

Yogi Felimon L. Ruiz, PDEA regional director Central Mindanao, lauded the joint PNP and other law enforcement units which took part in the PDEA's campaign against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region.
