COTABATO CITY - The Bangsamoro leadership, through its Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG) has turned over five (5) units of patrol car to several police offices across the autonomous region.
MILG Minister Naguib Sinarimbo formally awarded the brand new patrol cars on May 10 to the recipient entities: The Regional Police Office-BARMM; the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO), Sulu PPO, and Datu Odin Sinsuat Municipal Police Station in Maguindanao.
One patrol car was retained for use by police elements deployed inside the BARMM compound here, the Bangsamoro Information Office said.
Minister Sinarimbo said the BARMM government purchased the patrol cars alongside fire trucks and ambulance units this year to intensify the capacity and efficiency of law enforcement and emergency response operations in the five-province and three-city autonomous region.
“Ang hope natin ay ma-increase ang capacity ng PNP natin na mag resolve ng crimes at mag prevent ng violence sa region,” said Sinarimbo, who signed documents with the recipient officials of the patrol cars.
He said his ministry would also propose a budget for 2022 to purchase similar units for other areas in BARMM.
Datu Odin Sinsuat Mayor Cheryl Mary Rose Sinsuat personally received the unit for her turf, saying her office had earlier requested for it.
“We had requested one unit of police car para magkaroon tayo ng agarang aksyon kapag meron tayong mga crime scenes," the lady mayor was quoted as saying, even as she praised the MILG for granting her plea.
Also present during the event were PNP PRO-BAR Regional Director PBGEN Eden Ugale and his delegation, DOS local government officials, and other key officials from Lanao del Sur and Sulu.
On April 15, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim and Minister Sinarimbo inspected individually the five (5) police cars, five (5) fire trucks, and four (4) units of ambulance set for awarding to different priority LGUs in the region.
Two ambulances are for the regional government's Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READi) and the other two are for the provincial government of Tawi-Tawi. As for the fire trucks, the MILG has a deployment agreement with the Bureau of Fire Protection on who among the priority LGUs will receive the vehicles.
The turnover of the fire trucks and ambulance units is reportedly set in days after the Ramadan fasting month.
