Sarangani town mayor, wife contract COVID-19


    

ALABEL, SARANGANI- Local authorities had placed under temporary lockdown the office of the mayor  after Mayor Vic Paul Salarda  and his wife tested positive for corona virus disease (COVID-19).

    Salarda confirmed that he got infected with the virus after he was exposed to a guest who earlier visited him at his office but was later tested positive for COVID-19.

    He also confirmed that his wife Lilibeth, who also served as the municipal administrator, was also tested positive for the virus.

    The Salarda couple, both asymptomatic,  was isolated in a separate house while they still work from home while running the affairs of the local government. 

    Vice-Mayor Ronnel  Espanola said said three other employees of the municipal government tested positive for COVID-19 while four municipal councilors and two department heads of the municipal government were subjected to COVID-19 test after they had close contact with the mayor.  

    He said the municipal council had undertaken preventive health measures including the holding of virtual session and work from home scheme for its staff amid the increasing number of active cases of COVID-19 in the locality which had reached to 95 with 6 fatalities.
