NGCP donates PhP1-B for government’s response vs, COVID-19

DAVAO CITY- The National Grid Corporation is donating some P1 billion to the national government for its campaign to combat Corona Virus-2019 outbreak in the Philippines.
In a press statement, Michael Ligalig, NGCP regional communications officer for Southern Mindanao, said NGCP officials had responded to the calls of President Rodrigo   Duterte for the private sector to help in the government’s campaign against COVID-19 pandemic.
He said NGCP officials had made initial coordination with the Office of the President wherein the company had committed to donate medical equipment such as video laryngoscopes, ventilators and total face masks worth P1 billion.
The NGCP had earlier donated to the government personal protective equipment (PPE), face masks, meals, and other supplies for the frontline workers and the Meals on Wheels program which distributes hot meals to indigent members of the community.
Ligalig said NGCP’s technical partner, the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), had also donated some 500,000 face masks through the Philippine Red Cross.
“Our stakeholders, particularly the public, can be assured that NGCP will continue to look for opportunities to support the government in battling this pandemic. We recognize that the only way to defeat this global health threat is through our collective efforts,” the NGCP said in a statement.
