MALAPATAN, SARANGANI (September 13, 2017) - Bai Estelita Tumandan Bantilan (center), 75, who was conferred the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan or the National Living Treasures Award on mat weaving by President Rodrigo Duterte, demonstrates her skills to Lorie Jane Manggay (right), 16, and Keziah Jane Tablo, 9, at the School of Living Tradition (SLT) in Sitio Upper Lasang, Sapu Masla on September 8. The skills of the elderly are vital to be preserved and passed on to the next generations. The SLT is supervised under Sulong Tribu program of Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, and Filip+ina/NGAs especially in the provision of infra and logistic support for sustainability in order to preserve the cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples in Sarangani.
