Cop faces charges for trying to shoot superior

A policeman is facing criminal and administrative charges for poking a gun to his superior following a heated altercation in Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat.

Sultan Kudarat police director Rex dela Rosa has placed under restriction SPO2 Richard Mucalam after he tried to shoot his commander Chief Insp. Ryan Lim, the chief of the Police Provincial Safety Company.

Dela Rosa has already ordered the Provincial Internal Affairs Service to investigate the incident and file administrative charges against Mucalam.

Investigation showed that Mucalam was seemed reluctant to conduct checkpoint along the highway across the headquarters of the PPSC in Barangay Grino, Tacurong City upon the order of Lim.

The two policemen figured in a heated altercation after Mucalam brought the intercepted motorcycles while conducting checkpoint inside their headquarters.

Lim berated Mucalam for bringing at least ten motorcycles which were subjected to verification inside their headquarters.

The police official told Mucalam he should have not brought the motorcycles inside their camp while their documents were being verified as it would subject them to security risks.

A heated altercation between the two policemen ensued wherein Mucalam took his M-16 Armalite rifle and threatened to shoot Lim.

Mucalam was prevailed by other policemen who tried to pacify him.

Lim is set to press attempted murder charges against Mucalam.
